The vertebral column, or spine, is a complex structure that works mainly as a support element and protection to the spinal cord and is one of the factors that helps to keep the body center of gravity. The vertebral column consist of 33 bone pieces called vertebras that are joined in such a way that provide the flexibility, stability, and cushion to the impacts caused by the normal movement of the body.
